Power tools and equipment often have significant operating and maintenance costs. In order to provide a consistent and productive user experience, we ask that members help offset those costs by paying for their usage time.

Beginning in October 2021, all machine usage billing has been converted to a self-service process facilitated through Our Website

Laminated sheets with QR codes and the URL of the equipment billing page have been posted in each Lab or on specific pieces of equipment. They can also be navigated to using the Our Labs menu structure on the website.

Since this is a self-service model, we ask members to be honest about their usage and to help offset the costs to the organization.

Tool use fees include standard consumables such as 3D printer filament, blades, bits, belts, welding gas, MIG wire, and more.  However, you will need to provide any specialty or niche supplies such as CNC router bits, certain fine grit sanding belts, etc.  Some tool manuals are digitized and posted online on the AMS Shared Drive.  If you have questions about part numbers, compatibility, etc. please contact our Facilities Manager at facility@akronmakerspace.org
