Learn More About Laser Engraving at Akron Makerspace
We currently have two laser engravers available to members of Akron Makerspace. Read on to learn more about the different machines and their capabilities.
CO2 Laser
Our main laser is an 80W OMTech CO2 laser. Operating at 35,000 volts, this latest addition to our laser engraving lab can create gorgeous, precision engravings. Some materials can also be cut in the laser engraver.
Features: Automatic safety features, BOFA air filtration system, water cooling system, four-way passthrough
Bed size/working area: approximately 20×28″ (500x700mm)
Approved Materials: Hardwood, MDF, Acrylic, Ceramic, Stone, and Glass

Fiber Laser
The AMS fiber laser is the sole machine setup for engraving on metals.
Bed size/working area: 7.87×7.87″ (200x200mm)
Software for Laser Engraving
Our lasers are set up to run with Lightburn.
