AMS was the proud sponsor of the 2023 Power Racing Series – Akron Rubber Run event!

When?

From September 9-10, 2023, we hosted two days of competition, challenges and connection as the Power Racing Series takes on Northeast Ohio at the Akron Rubber Run in Akron!

Where?

We hosted the races in a parking lot near the Spaghetti Warehouse, approximately 0.5 miles from our Makerspace.

Why?

Power Racing Series races offer participants the chance to use their knowledge, learn new skills and work together — all while have fun while doing it!

What is Power Racing Series?

A nationwide racing event whose participants take a child’s electric ride-on car and combine it with electronics, engineering fabrication, cosplay and general pageantry to make it something incredible — for less than $500!

Started in 2009, Chicago-based POW POW Power Racing Series (PPPRS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that encourages people to learn STEAM skills and more as they work with others to build a kart and have fun while doing it.

Whether you want to get hands on or just support the event, there’s a number of ways to get involved in the Akron Rubber Run!

Join the AMS Team

Don’t know the difference between a resistor and a relay but you know that blue smoke is bad?  We can help.

Don’t know what akerman steering is but you know that when you turn the steering the car should “go that way”? We can explain.

Akron Makerspace is dedicated to providing tools and knowledge to the community.  We conduct group builds to get these amazing cars on track. So grab a wrench, some duct tape, zip ties and join the team.

Race Day Involvement

We will offer a small area for a Maker’s Market where crafters and other small business vendors can set up and sell.

In addition, we will need volunteers for race days to help set up, organize, direct and tear down the event.
