Wood Lab

The Akron Makerspace has separate departments based on category. Our first workshop introduction is for our wood lab! This area is the most heavily used department in our makerspace, and therefore has the most space to create. We have almost all of the standard wood working tools and equipment you would expect to find in any wood shop, in addition to some notable equipment that’s highlighted in this post!
One of the more complex pieces of equipment we have in this department is our CNC machine (highlighted in green), which is down for repairs currently, but will hopefully be up and running soon!
Our wood lab also features plenty of open workspace for members to use. Highlighted in yellow above are our current open workbenches we keep ready for people to use daily.
We’re also excited to be able to offer our membership training and use of our wood turning equipment (highlighted in blue), which includes two wood lathes and the tools to accompany them.
Another piece of equipment we have available for use in our wood lab is a panel saw (highlighted in red) that was graciously donated by a local @loweshomeimprovement that no longer needed it due to their store upgrading their lumber yard equipment.
Overall, our woodworkers have a pretty robust wood lab to put to use, so come check out the changes and upgrades we’re looking at doing! Can you picture yourself making something in our wood lab?
