Become a Recurring Volunteer
Be a Lab Maintainer
Do you have experience, skill, or even a desire to learn how to maintain a lab at Akron Makerspace? You can volunteer for a lab maintainership and contribute to the Space by teaching lab-specific classes, onboarding new members, and conducting regular maintenance on equipment.
Join the Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is made up of volunteers elected by our membership. You can be nominated or nominate yourself if you are a current member in good standing.
Elections are held each year for board positions. Since our term length is two years, we vote on certain positions during odd years and on others during even years.
If a position becomes vacant before the term is up, we do hold special elections.
Share Your Craft
You can share your talents with other Akron Makerspace members and our larger community while being compensated for your time and skill.
Both Akron Makerspace members and non-members alike are eligible to teach classes at the Space. All potential instructors should submit the form so the appropriate AMS leaders and maintainers can review and begin the process.

Lab Improvements
Does something in an AMS lab need attention or repair? Do you have suggestions or recommendations to improve a lab at Akron Makerspace? Submit this form and we’ll get it routed to the appropriate maintainer!
Proposal Template
Members are welcome to provide suggestions for new equipment, labs or projects at the Space. When these opportunities come around, we ask members and any involved parties to complete an official proposal and submit it to the Board.
The template provided at the link below helps individuals to consider all aspects of a project or proposal and provide AMS leadership with all the information needed to move forward.

The first step in the process is to tour Akron Makerspace during our regular open house. You may also be able to attend new member orientation that same evening!
