Caricature Carving Class

Akron MakerSpace, 540 S Main St #951, Akron, OH 44311, USAWhether you are new to carving or experienced. This class provides an opportunity to learn the carving of a human face with a nationally known woodcarver. The class will consist of 4 to 5 Wednesday evenings. Experienced carvers may finish in 4 classes
Tools and materials are included in the ticket price. Current Akron Makerspace Members should request the code for $30 off the ticket price prior to signing up.
The 5 part class will be taught by Tim Crawford a lifelong carver and very experienced wood carving instructor.
Participants must be available for all scheduled classes. Missing a class may make it very difficult to catch up with the rest of the class.
Class will be limited to 10 students needing to borrow carving tools and an additional 4 carvers who can bring their own tools may join the class. Please indicate in your ticket reservation if you will need tools or provide your own.

Students will choose a species of rough wood about 18" long and mill it into a charcuterie board, along the way they will learn how to use tools safely, learn about AMS procedures and policies and simple wood working techniques. The class will involve use of jointer, planner, table saw, miter saw, router table, bandsaw and sanding machines.

Intro to Glass - Basic Stained Glass Work

The class will focus on glass selection, methods of cutting glass, safety precautions, project design, attaching glass together and the assembly of a small stained glass project that you will take home. This class will be required as a basic foundational class prior to other AMS glass classes such as glass fusion. In addition to the class fee ($45), there is a $15 materials fee paid to the instructor on the day of the class. Limit of 3 per class.
